Replacement of a 72-year-old bridge that hugs Chastain Park in Buckhead will soon render the thoroughfare closed through spring.

Construction of the new Powers Ferry Road bridge that crosses Nancy Creek is scheduled to begin Sept. 19, a city spokeswoman said Tuesday. The construction limits are from south of Pineland Road to about 250 feet north of the existing bridge.

Surrounding streets will remain open to local traffic, but the bridge will be closed until construction is completed in the spring. See multiple detour options here.
