Sledgehammers to bring down Proctor Square in Duluth
Duluth is inviting young and old to witness the first moments of destruction at Proctor Square 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 19 at 3116 Buford Highway. The ceremonial sledgehammer swing will kick off the full demolition of the aging and empty retail center at the corner of Buford Highway and State Route 120/Duluth Highway.
Destruction of the 1960s-era building will make way for a $64 million mixed-use development to include office, retail and restaurant space, and approximately 365 multi-family housing units. The development will feature a wrapped parking deck accessible to the public on the first two levels, tree lined boulevard with parallel parking, sidewalks, and public art sites.
