Six Flags adding alcohol has stirred up Facebook ire
Just as soon as the news broke about Six Flags Over Georgia expanding its alcohol sales, metro Atlanta residents took to Facebook with their reactions.
A search of recent social media comments showed about 90 percent disagreed with Cobb County's decision to expand the park's alcohol-dispensing locations from four to nine — though some users were in favor of the move.
The commenting consensus: The move does not gel well with day-long adventures of twisting and turning on the Batman or the Mind Bender. Multiple users voiced concerns that violence and crimes (and tossing cookies) would increase with the chances to purchase cold brews.

Posted by Brittani'Muffin' Sullivan on Monday, January 18, 2016The Austell theme park has had an alcohol license since 2014, but it needed the Cobb commissioners' approval to increase alcohol sales, District 4 Commissioner Lisa Cupid told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The commission unanimously voted to do so.
The additional alcohol stands will be added when Six Flags opens March 12.
“The park has provided that, to date, it has not had an alcohol-related incident,” Cupid said. “Also, per county ordinance, the park must take specific measures to ensure alcohol is purchased and consumed in a responsible manner.”
Park spokesman Gene Petriello told the AJC that Six Flags could not discuss how it has or will handle incidents involving alcohol.
“We are pleased the Cobb County Commissioners approved our request to add locations to our existing alcohol license and we will continue to offer this service with the proper controls and regulations,” Petriello said in an emailed statement.
