Decatur is scheduled to begin repairing sidewalk trip hazards along a busy street this week.

The repairs will take place along West Ponce de Leon Avenue, East Ponce de Leon Avenue and East Court Square. Work was slated to begin on Monday and last about four days.

Sidewalk access will remain open, except in the block that’s being worked on. On-street parking isn’t expected to be affected, but residual dust may collect on cars parked adjacent to repair sites.

This round of repairs will include all panels popping up from a quarter inch to two inches. Hazards greater than two inches and panels with cracking will require replacement to be completed at a later date.

Decatur's commission recently approved a project budget of $50,000 for Georgia Safe Sidewalks of Lawrenceville to repair sidewalks throughout the city.
