A man was shot in the stomach Sunday during a rap concert in Athens, police said.

Atlanta rapper Derez De’Shon was performing about 1 a.m. Sunday at Athens Arena when a fight started, Athens-Clarke County police spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez said.

A shot was fired on the dance floor of the arena and the music stopped. Three people were hurt trying to escape the shooting, Rodriguez said. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

The shooting victim, whose name was not released by police, was treated at a local hospital and released.

Officers were unable to locate the shooter and did not receive a description of the person, Rodriguez said.

Athens Arena is located west of Athens, just off Jennings Mill Parkway in Bogart.

Derez De'Shon has been associated with Waka Flocka Flame's Brick Squad Monopoly crew and worked with other rappers, including Slim Dunkin. He "writes highly introspective lyrics about relationships, hustling, and life struggles," according to his bio.

Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to contact Sgt. David Norris at 706-613-3330 ext. 556 or david.norris@accgov.com.
