One person was shot Wednesday afternoon at a gas station on Upper Riverdale Road, Clayton County police said.

The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to a local hospital and was in surgery shortly after 3 p.m., Officer Danielle Rosa told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Investigators were expected to remain at the Citgo gas station for several hours interviewing witnesses, Rosa said.

“We do have a person of interest that we’re talking to,” Rosa said. “There is no threat to the public.”

There were traffic delays in the area, near the intersection with Arrowhead Boulevard, due to the investigation, according to police.

Raj Singh, the gas station owner, told Channel 2 Action News he was behind the register when he heard a commotion at the gas pumps between two men. Singh said he heard shouting and then gunfire.
