There were 181 crashes during the two-year span of 2016 and 2017 on an 800-foot lick of road in Cobb County, according to Channel 2 Action News.

That stretch is in Marietta, on Powder Springs Street between Cunningham Road and Baltimore Place.

The station got the number through a records request for Cobb police documents.

Cobb police’s spokesman Sgt. Wayne Delk said the increase of rear-end collisions could be indicative of more distracted driving.

Another cause of crashes is drivers trying to make a left turn crossing several lanes of traffic, Delk said.

Some drivers told Channel 2 they think traffic cameras or a median would help.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is in charge of that section of road.

Though options may be limited, GDOT officials said they are looking into ways to improve the area.
