The Gwinnett Planning Commission will evaluate a proposal by Smithton Homes LLC to build a subdivision targeting ages 55 and over on 41.8 acres at the 500 and 600 blocks of Cooper Road and the 2800 block of Langley Road between Loganville and Grayson. The planning commission will make recommendations to Gwinnett commissioners following their meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.

The proposed development, to be called Cooper Pond, would not exceed 136 homes with 3.25 homes per acre. The gated community will require brick or stone front facades, two-car garages and a minimum 1,400 square feet for each two-bedroom home, 1,700 square feet for three-bedroom homes and 2,100 square feet for four-bedroom homes.
