Just like all of us, a Mars rover is braving the traffic to get to SunTrust Park.
Next week, the Mars Rover Concept Vehicle, designed to handle the tough landscape and conditions of the Red Planet, will stop in Atlanta, which is the first city on its East Coast summer tour, according to NASA.
It will be stationed at The Battery, located right outside of SunTrust Park, from July 14 to 16.
The rover, which looks like the combination of a Transformer and the Batmobile, is permanently stationed at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral. According to NASA, it seats four people, is almost 11 feet tall and weighs 5,500 pounds.
While there are no plans to send this specific rover to Mars, NASA hopes the tour will educate viewers on what it takes to traverse the planet.
“Based on NASA science, the next generation of space explorers could be traveling and working in a high-tech mobile laboratory similar to this rover vehicle,” NASA wrote on its website. “The rover vehicle is an impressive size with its mobile lab, and has massive wheels designed to travel over dunes, rocks and craters.”
After stopping in Atlanta, the rover will go to Washington, Jersey City and New York City.
