DeKalb County police have identified the victim in a Friday morning crash on Lawrenceville Highway that is still under investigation.

Mary L. Duke, 51, who was driving a scooter, died at the scene after the wreck occurred around 6 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Steel Drive.

DeKalb police Lt. B.K. DeLoach told the AJC that the preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was attempting to make a left turn into the Steel Mart steel supply company when he "didn't see the scooter coming in his direction, turned into it and struck the scooter."

The lieutenant said charges are pending against the pickup driver, who was apparently on his way to work when the crash occurred.
