School system facing several years of trailers

Even without annexation City Schools Decatur is looking at several years-worth of modular units spread throughout all its campuses. Early projections have CSD enrollment swelling to 8,145 by 2020 with annexation, or roughly 7,300 without (the system’s current capacity is 3,859).

This will require, with annexation, roughly $139 million worth of construction including school additions and possibly two new schools. With annexation CSD is planning for 122 trailers through 2017, costing $12.8 million, or 106 trailers at $11.69 million without annexation.
