An Atlanta Public Schools bus containing 72 passengers caught fire Wednesday afternoon, delaying traffic on I-20 westbound in Douglas County, officials said.

The students were evacuated safely and placed on another bus, according to Atlanta Public Schools. No injuries were reported.

The bus was taking students from South Atlanta High School to a track meet in Villa Rica, Atlanta Public Schools said. The driver immediately evacuated students from the bus, and APS sent another bus to pick them up.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The incident happened west of Highway 5 (exit 34). Highway 78 is recommended as an alternate.
