Santa will be on the Marietta Square sweating it up on Saturday

You yearning yuletide spirit?

Well you can get your Christmas fix Saturday morning at Marietta Square with Santa Claus.

The bearded dude will be there from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for a Christmas in July appearance, the city said.

There are lots of theories on why Christmas in July is a thing, but none of them really matter because who needs an excuse to pretend it’s chilly in July in Georgia?

Santa will be there to present a $10,000 check from the Marietta Square Winter Wonderland group, which puts on the holiday festivities and ice skating rink, to the Center for Family Resources.

The Marietta-based organization serves the homeless community.

Stephanie Coston, operations manager for the Square's holiday celebrations, said the money was left over from paid yuletide events like the ice skating rink and pictures with Santa.

She said the organization “is the epitome of the holiday spirit.”
