Sandy Springs has taken steps to enhance public safety by investing in a city-wide surveillance solution.

The software program purchased from vendor Iron Sky uses Google Maps to allow authorized city personnel such as police officers, 911 dispatchers and emergency responders to view cameras at any location from their patrol car or office computers. Users will also be able to control cameras that pan, tilt and zoom with the click of a computer mouse.

Iron Sky technologies are also being used in College Park, Midtown Atlanta, Norcross, Lilburn, Hapeville and Valdosta.
