Sandy Springs has reached an agreement to launch a video surveillance program through Iron Sky, the same company that has recently installed cameras in Norcross, Lilburn, Decatur and Midtown.

“Sandy Springs is excited to be a leader in crime prevention in metro Atlanta,” Sandy Springs Police Chief Terry Sult said in a written statement. “Iron Sky gives us a powerful non-proprietary tool to help fight crime and address situations quickly.”

Police officials hope to integrate the system with their traffic cameras and some existing city-owned cameras by the end of June. There are also plans to include  all of the city-owned cameras in the program at an undetermined later date.

The funds for the program will come from federal drug forfeiture money.
