Leadership Sandy Springs invites residents to the 17th annual edition of Volunteer for a Better Sandy Springs, an opportunity for community service Saturday, April 27.

"We provide the tools, you pick your site," according to an announcement posted to Facebook.

The day begins at 8 a.m. at North Springs Charter High School, 7447 Roswell Road, with free breakfast and T-shirts for the first 400 registered volunteers. Volunteers then will fan out across 18 job sites of local nonprofits, civic organizations, public schools and parks, with work wrapping up by 1 p.m.

In past volunteer days, the city received materials and volunteer hours worth more than $650,000 in improvements, organizers said. People of all ages are welcome, and the involvement of community groups, corporate teams and school groups is encouraged. For information and to register: https://bit.ly/2I7wpDx
