Potholes, many created by recent bad weather, will be repaired soon, said a Sandy Springs official on Wednesday.
“With this kind of weather, the warm (temperatures), and the cold, and the rain, and snow, it has wreaked havoc on the roadways and created an increase in potholes,” said Sharon Kraun, Sandy Springs director of communications.
The city has received an increased amount of phone calls from residents complaining about Roswell Road, Long Island Drive, Windsor Parkway and Mount Paran Road. "Our folks are responding and trying to get in recovery mode," said Marty Martin, director of Public Works, during Tuesday's City Council meeting.
By the end of the week, north Georgia is expected to reach a total of 10 inches of rain for the month, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Road repairs must be done during dry weather, Kraun explained. Sandy Springs road workers have patched some potholes. Permanent repairs will start on those temporary fixes, as well as fresh holes on Thursday, if the rain breaks.
“We are sending crews out to monitor the roads and create a hit list,” Kraun added.
