Sandy Springs officials want residents to be aware of their rights under the Fair Housing Act. The federal law protects people from a number of types of discrimination when buying, renting and securing financing for housing. The act bans discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability and the presence of children.

The city has scheduled a meeting for 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at Sandy Springs City Hall, 7840 Roswell Road, Building 500, to discuss such issues as the contents of the act, who’s protected by it, residents’ rights, tenant and landlord responsibilities and reporting fair housing issues.
