The Sandy Springs City Council approved a letter of intent with Livable Buckhead and the PATH Foundation to coordinate preliminary design work on a Path 400 trail segment from Loridans Drive to the Interstate 285/Ga.400 interchange trail.

The $620,000 budget for the extension design is being funded by a grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission plus a local match by the Buckhead group. It will cover 2.1 miles with 1.25 miles of that within Sandy Springs.

The PATH Foundation website says the first segment of the trail from south Buckhead to I-285/400 is open from Lenox Square near Piedmont Road to Old Ivy Road, and that three more segments are under construction.
