The Sandy Springs City Council has approved two contracts totaling more than $7.6 million to have the AECOM engineering firm provide traffic-related public works services.

The council approved a Year Three contract renewal valued at $6 million for public works/facilities services for the 2019 fiscal year, a 12.2 percent increase over FY 2018.

AECOM’s responsibilities will include traffic engineering for 350 miles of roadways in the city, 24/7 traffic monitoring, maintenance, infrastructure management and other tasks, according to a staff report to the council.

The council also approved a Year Two FY 2019 contract worth $1.6 million to have AECOM manage projects associated with the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by voters in November 2016. AECOM’s responsibilities will include right-of-way acquisition, project management and utility coordination, staff said.
