The Sandy Springs City Council has approved two contracts totaling more than $2.1 million to construct sidewalks along Roswell Road and Windsor Parkway.

Construction 57 Inc. was awarded a $1.17 million contract for a sidewalk, site grading and walls, curbs and gutters, storm drainage and landscaping along Roswell Road from Long Island to Stewart drives. Construction 57 submitted the lowest of 11 bids for the work, according to a staff report to the council.

Separately, the council awarded a $978,888 contract to Astra Grading & Pipe LLC to build a six-foot-wide sidewalk with a two-foot landscape buffer 1,520 feet long on the south side of Windsor Parkway, and a five-foot-wide sidewalk 115 feet long on the north side of the street, between Highgrove Pointe and Mabry Pointe.

Sole bidder for the job, Astra also will be responsible for guardrail and handrail, curb and gutter, storm sewer and driveway portions of the project, staff said.

Both contracts are pending approval of the Legal and Finance departments.
