Sandy Springs will offer residents a behind-the-scenes preview of the City Springs downtown redevelopment, with tours at the 14-acre construction site set for a Saturday morning in September.

“While it is not typical to host mid-construction tours on a project of this size, City Springs belongs to the community, and we are excited to bring in our citizenry to showcase its progress,” said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul.

Tours will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, Sept. 23. They’ll begin in front of the Holder Construction trailers at Mount Vernon Highway and Sandy Springs Circle and be led by representatives of the city and Holder and Carter/Selig, its partners on the project.

Visitors will view the main floors of the performing arts center, studio theater, main office lobby and city green. Tour groups will be limited to 20 persons apiece, minors must be accompanied by adults, and no “flip flop” shoes will be permitted.

Construction started in January, 2016. The project officially opens next summer.
