For the second time in less than one month, a Sandy Springs K9 is being called a hero.

K9 Rock didn't back down when a suspicious man in a backyard raised a metal pipe to officers Tuesday, Sandy Springs police said on Facebook.

The dog got his man.

“This situation could have ended much worse, but due to the bravery of Rock, it did not,” police said.

An injury to the dog’s shoulder was treated and Rock was sent home to rest, while the suspect was taken to jail on multiple felony charges.

On April 18, when Rock caught up to alleged gang member Jonathan Wimbs, who was hiding in the woods after running from police, Rock took several brass knuckle punches to the head before taking Wimbs down. Rock returned to limited duty the following day.
