Motorists who use the Mount Vernon Highway bridge over Ga. 400 in Sandy Springs can expect a major traffic shift in the coming weeks, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

As part of the ongoing reconstruction of the nearby interchange of Ga. 400 and I-285, GDOT contractors have been building a new Mount Vernon bridge. In February, traffic will be shifted to the new span. The demolition of the old bridge will take place in the first quarter.

The work affects Mount Vernon between Barfield Road and Crestline Parkway. GDOT advises some turns will be restricted from Mount Vernon, and drivers should expect detours during demolition of the former bridge. Information: https://bit.ly/2uQ9IhH
