The Sandy Springs City Council has approved acquiring land for the reconstruction of a busy intersection on Roswell Road south of Interstate 285.

The land acquisition is to ensure “a more appropriate intersection angle” at Roswell and Glenridge Drive, as well as adequate left-turn lanes northbound and southbound, according to a staff report accompany the Council agenda item. The cost of the right of way is estimated at $760,000.

The effort will involve the Georgia Department of Transportation, and the Council authorized the mayor to execute a contract with GDOT. “While there is no federal match for the right-of-way funds, federal funds are available in the construction phase of the project. Therefore, GDOT will have oversight and involvement in the right-of-way acquisition,” according to a staff report accompany the Council agenda item.
