Cumming city officials said long-anticipated repairs to a road damaged by flooding in 2013 are expected to be finished by Dec. 31.

A portion of Sanders Road caved in two years ago following a breach at the nearby Lake Alice dam, a collapse city officials say was caused by an undersized culvert. That stretch has been closed since.

The city of Cumming and Forsyth County have signed off on an agreement under which each will pay half of the $434,000 repair cost.

In addition to repairing the road surface, Martin Contracting workers are installing a much larger box culvert capable of handling any future flooding issues.
