The incident happened before 8:30 a.m. north of Clairmont Road.

DeKalb police told Channel 2 Action News that a Dodge pickup truck was northbound on the interstate when one of the truck’s tires came off and flew over the median wall.

The tire struck and killed a 47-year-old woman driving a minivan in the southbound lanes, according to Channel 2.

The minivan driver, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. A 16-year-old passenger was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston for evaluation.
