The newly constructed roundabout at the intersection of State Route 81 and Bold Springs Road in Winder goes into operation Tuesday, March 13. Georgia DOT plans to complete striping the lanes and have traffic flowing in final configuration by 2 p.m.

This roundabout replaces the former 4-way stop intersection. According to Georgia DOT officials, “Roundabouts have demonstrated substantial safety and operational benefits compared to other forms of intersection control, with reductions in fatal and injury crashes of from 60-87 percent.”
