The Roswell City Council has approved a supplemental lease with the Georgia Municipal Association to finance the purchase of a $1.17 million heavy rescue fire truck.

The agreement, made possible under a master lease program between Roswell and the municipal association, calls for a 10-year lease term with an interest rate of 3.41 percent and an annual payment of $140,719, according to a staff report to the council. The apparatus will join the Roswell Fire Department fleet.

The vehicle is a Sutphen Heavy Duty Custom Heavy Rescue Truck. According to the manufacturer's website, Sutphen heavy rescue trucks come with 8- to 10-person cabs, space for tools, equipment and paramedic supplies, electrical generators, and optional lighting systems providing up to 18,000 watts of illumination.
