The Roswell Police Department announced it is taking applications for the Fall 2020 session of the Citizens Police Academy, to meet for 10 weeks beginning Aug. 18 to introduce students to various aspects of police work.

Participants will become acquainted with such police operations as the K9 unit, SWAT team, D.U.I. enforcement, 911 communications and criminal investigations, officials said. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, pass a background check and be a Roswell resident or business owner.

The academy is free and will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Those who complete the course will participate in a graduation ceremony and reception Oct. 20.

Space is limited, and applications will be processed in the order they are received. Applications are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Police Department, 39 Hill St., or at a city website. Information, and to apply: https://bit.ly/2CFVR1r
