A portion of a Roswell street that collapsed Tuesday due to an underground water leak has been reopened, officials said Wednesday.

City spokeswoman Julie Brechbill said

The road, a Country Club of Roswell thoroughfare that was closed for repairs Tuesday, imploded after a distracted teenage driver hit a fire hydrant nearby, police said.

According to Channel 2 Action News, drinking water was not affected by the incident, which created a sinkhole in the middle of the street.
