The city of Roswell breaks ground 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Chase Bank, 1475 Holcomb Bridge on two projects designed to improve safety and traffic flow at a major bottleneck-Holcomb Bridge Road (Ga. 140) at Ga. 400.

One project will add a right turn lane to the northbound Ga. 400 exit ramp to eliminate an eastbound “trap lane” on Holcomb Bridge approaching Old Alabama Road suddenly forcing drivers to turn left or scoot over. Also, the left turn lane from westbound Holcomb Bridge to southbound 400 will be lengthened.

The other will build a new westbound travel lane on Holcomb Bridge between Old Alabama and the northbound 400 entrance ramp.

Lane closures will limited to off-peak hours outside the morning and afternoon rush, but officials say delays could still happen. The work’s set to be done by September.
