To facilitate an eventual land sale, the Roswell City Council has approved the rezoning of the site of the soon-to-be-replaced Fire Station No. 4 from CIV-Civic and Institutional to CX-Commercial Mixed Use.

The present firehouse at 1601 Holcomb Bridge Road will be replaced with a new Station No. 4 now under construction at Old Alabama Road and Market Boulevard, staff said.

Once the new station opens, the city will seek to sell the old station and its 0.74-acre site. Commercial mixed use zoning allows land uses similar to what already exists to the west and across Holcomb Bridge, staff said.

CX zoning would require a Type C or D “neighborhood compatibility buffer” – a 20-foot buffer with a 6-foot-tall screening wall, or a buffer 40 feet wide, respectively. Both buffers would require tree plantings.
