The Roswell City Council has voted conditional approval for a rezoning to allow the expansion of World Harvest Church on Hardscrabble Road.

The church requested rezoning from RS-30 (single-family estate) to CIV (civic and institutional) so that it can construct a new worship center at 275 Hardscrabble, a 6-acre site across the street from its present location, according to a staff report to the council. The project would be west of Sweet Apple Elementary School.

Plans call for a new, 60,000-square-foot worship center with seating for 1,009 people, a large lobby and a two-level children’s wing with nursery and classroom space. The church’s existing building at 320 Hardscrabble would be converted into space for its middle school and high school youth programs.

The council approved the rezoning request with conditions including following the site plan previously filed or approved, and designing roadway improvements as approved by the city’s Department of Transportation. It notes, “the uses of public school and cell tower are prohibited.”
