The Roswell City Council has approved a $295,550 design contract to AECOM, an engineering firm and consultant, for improvements to the Vickery Creek trail system.

The city is working with the National Park Service to mitigate the impact of its Historic Gateway Project – the reconstruction of Atlanta Street – on NPS land in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

Among the planned work: removing the Vickery Creek entrance drive and parking lot off Riverside Drive, and the Allenbrook Historic Site entrance off Atlanta Street, and replacing them with native vegetation, a new trail and a trailhead.

Plans also include building an Ivy Mill interpretive/connector trail and two new trails and waysides along both sides of Vickery Creek; constructing a trail connecting the Allenbrook House to the existing NPS trail system near Lovers’ Leap and a pedestrian bridge across Vickery Creek; and designing and building a Railroad Bed Trail.
