The Roswell City Council has approved a $268,485 construction contract for a sidewalk 5 to 8 feet wide to be installed along the west side of Hardscrabble Road from Etris to Rucker roads.
SOL Construction submitted the lowest responsive, responsible bid of 10 bids and was recommended for the job, according to a staff report to the council.
The sidewalk will fill a gap of roughly a half-mile in the city sidewalk system, connecting to the Hardscrabble Green Loop project, staff said. The new walk will make it possible to walk from the Roswell city limits at Arnold Mill Road to King Road.
It was selected for awarding now partly because of its proximity to the Green Loop, staff said.
The Hardscrabble Green Loop is part of a "complete street" project to construct a multi-use trail along Hardscrabble, connecting Roswell High School to Sweet Apple Elementary School, according to a city website. It is part of a larger bicycle and pedestrian system, the Roswell Loop. Information: https://bit.ly/2C3dN2T
