Roswell Police said a two-day operation aimed at educating drivers about the state’s “move over” law netted dozens of violators.

The law specifies that drivers approaching police, fire or other emergency vehicles move over so that one lane of traffic is clear between the driver and the emergency vehicle, unless doing so would be impossible or unsafe. The law also applies to tow trucks.

Police who set up the operation on Holcomb Bridge Road said they made 157 traffic stops, issued 114 warnings and handed out 41 tickets.

Police spokesman Zachary Frommer said the great majority of the tickets were for move-over violations, but drivers were also dinged for suspended licenses, no vehicle registration and other offenses.
