The city of Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department has been named a finalist in the competition for a national gold medal award in park and recreation management.

The American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and the National Recreation and Park Association sponsor the award, which is given to communities that show excellence in long-range park planning, resource management, environmental stewardship and other areas.

Roswell is a finalist in the 75,001-150,000 population category competing with three other U.S. communities for the Grand Plaque Award honors this summer.
