Roswell has set a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Wednesday, July 31, to celebrate the completion of the Hardscrabble Green Loop Complete Street project, an effort that includes a path connecting Roswell High School and Sweet Apple Elementary School.
The public is invited to the event, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Hardscrabble Road school bus entrance of Roswell High, 11595 King Road, according to a city announcement.
The Hardscrabble Green Loop is a segment of the Roswell Loop, intended to connect all city parks and schools with sidewalks and trails, officials said. The $5.8 million Hardscrabble project installed a 10-foot-wide, multi-use path on the south side of the street; a 5-foot-wide sidewalk on the north side; and 4-foot-wide bike lanes between King and Etris roads.
Also, a roundabout at Hardscrabble and Chaffin Road replaced a traffic signal at that location, officials said, and bike shoulders and a sidewalk have been added to Chaffin from Hardscrabble to Northgate Trace.
The project was jointly funded by the Federal Highway Administration, Georgia Department of Transportation and city of Roswell.
