A Roswell family is warning others about the potential dangers of hoverboards after their son had an accident on one.
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Dr. Taha Shakir warns if you're going to ride a hoverboard, wear safety gear.
That's advice Ryan Frommer, 10, wishes he had followed after being injured over the weekend.
"I saw something coming in front of me so I jerked backwards," Frommer said. "I went back too far, so I went forward and I crumpled . But my feet stayed on the hoverboard, so it kept going and I got my hand stuck in the wheel."
The hoverboard motor mechanism broke Frommer's finger.
"It was more surprising than painful," Frommer said.
Shakir said he hasn't seen a huge spike in hoverboard injuries this year.
"I think the ones we have seen are similar to falling off a bicycle, but nothing that's a tremendous increase in injuries," Shakir said.
Frommer says he might get back on the board someday.
