The Roswell City Council has approved a contract with Nantahala, a recreation services provider, to run watercraft and bike rentals and concessions at two city parks on the Chattahoochee River.

The contract is for canoe, kayak, raft, paddleboard, tube and bicycle rentals, related services and concessions at Don White Memorial Park, 925(B) Riverside Road, and Azalea Park, 203 Azalea Drive, according to a staff report. The council vote to approve was 3-2, with Council Members Michael Palermo and Marcelo Zapata voting in opposition.

Three firms expressed interest and two submitted proposals, but only Nantahala met the city’s pass/fail criteria for the award, staff said.

The firm proposed a concession fee of 7 percent of gross receipts to be returned to the city, compared with 5 percent from the current contractor. “Final terms will be set through the contract negotiation process,” staff said.
