The Roswell City Council has approved a $295,291 contract to have an architectural and engineering consultant prepare the initial design for redeveloping the Ace Sand property as a park along the Chattahoochee River.
Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects and Planners LLC is to come up with a design that will lay out all project elements including the building, parking, stormwater gardens, fitness trail and other amenities recommended by the city’s River Parks Master Plan, according to a staff report to the council.
The consultant also is to produce a complete design for a children’s stormwater garden and fitness trail loop, “to be included as ‘shovel ready’ projects should future grant or other funding opportunities come available,” staff said.
Eight design firms submitted proposals to the city. An evaluation committee interviewed three and recommended Starr Whitehouse as the highest-scoring applicant.
