The Roswell City Council has moved another step toward a congestion-easing roundabout project at the Houze and Hembree roads intersection. The council unanimously approved spending an additional $99,000 for right-of-way funding for the project.

The city has ponied up several hundred thousand dollars for right-of-way and design work, with the state set to pick up the rest of the project tab. In addition to the roundabout, the project involves construction of a multi-use trail on the south side of Hembree Road connecting to Hembree Park.

Also at its most recent meeting, the council gave final approval to a text amendment to the Unified Development Code banning alcohol sales/storage in outdoor dining areas. It’s aimed at preventing outdoor sales to passers-by.
