Roswell officials said that construction is expected to begin in February on a street project aimed at helping relieve bottlenecks on Holcomb Bridge Road near Ga. 400.

The Roswell City Council Monday night approved paying $49,000 to acquire the last right-of-way needed for the Ga. 140 westbound through lane/streetscape project. Transportation officials said the project will add a third westbound travel lane along heavily-traveled Ga. 140 (Holcomb Bridge Road) between Old Alabama Road and the Ga. 400 northbound entrance ramp.

The project also includes turn lane and signal upgrades at Old Alabama Road and Market Boulevard, plus lighting and streetscape improvements. The $2.3 million project is set for September completion and is being done under a bond issue voters approved in 2012.
