The Roswell City Council approved a major re-alignment of the Big Creek Parkway project and, in related action, a partnership with the state to rebuild the interchange of Holcomb Bridge Road and Ga. 400.

The Big Creek project is intended to relieve traffic congestion in the Holcomb Bridge corridor. The revised plan would upgrade and use the existing Old Holcomb Bridge Road west of Ga. 400, instead of building a new Big Creek Parkway parallel to Holcomb Bridge, according to a city web page.

The bypass would head east and then north along Ga. 400, cross the expressway, and connect with a new Big Creek Parkway to be built east of Ga. 400. Information: https://bit.ly/2kEnAqu

The change would save Roswell $15 million, staff said. The $15 million would be the city’s contribution toward a reconstructed Holcomb Bridge/Ga. 400 interchange, according to a memorandum of understanding approved by the council with the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Roswell is working with the state on the interchange configuration – either a partial cloverleaf with two loop ramps, or a diverging diamond, staff said. The council also approved a $1.5 million contract modification with Gresham Smith, the city’s design consultant on the Big Creek project, on account of the changed plan.
