Roswell is alerting residents to changes in the way Advanced Disposal will pick up recycling carts beginning April 1 for those who participate in the city’s voluntary recycling program.

Advanced will start using automated side-loading trucks, which require 65-gallon containers placed curbside for collection, the city said. Recycling containers must be at last three feet away from other objects, such as garbage containers and mailboxes, so that the truck’s arm and lift can work properly.

Households with 18-gallon recycling bins will receive 65-gallon containers as replacements.

Glass bottles and jars, cans, plastics (Nos. 1-7), newspapers, broken-down cardboard, softcover books and other paper products are accepted for curbside recycling. Styrofoam, molded plastic, light bulbs, ceramics, hardcover books, photos, paper towels, tissue and window, picture frame and mirror glass are not accepted.

Residents are asked to empty and rinse food and beverage containers.
