Two people jumped from a second-story balcony at Atlantic Station Thursday night after a home invader fired gunshots in their direction, police said.

The incident began when the suspect followed a friend into an apartment about 7 p.m., said Curtis Davenport, an Atlanta police spokesman. The suspect was looking for someone with whom he had a previous dispute over money, Davenport said; that person was not there but there were two other people in the apartment.

The suspect made all three occupants sit on the couch. He fired a shot that went through the couch and into the wall. He then ordered the three victims upstairs, Davenport said.

Moments later, two of the victims ran downstairs and jumped off the second-story balcony onto the sidewalk, one breaking his arm. Both were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect ran, and police continue to search for him.
