A stretch of Kirkwood Avenue will be closed for most of the next two weeks while Atlanta Beltline contractors install a temporary crosswalk.

The road will blocked between Holtzclaw and Kenyon streets, according to a news release. The main road closure is expected to take a couple weeks — excluding weekends —beginning Wednesday.

The area will be closed expect “at night time for local traffic” through Friday; closed for 24 hours a day from Monday through Oct. 13; and open at night time from Oct. 16 to Oct. 18, the statement said. Specific hours were not announced.

The temporary crosswalk will be installed as part of the first phase of the Eastside Trail’s southern extension, which will eventually run from Irwin Street to Memorial Drive.
