The city of Sandy Springs announced that motorists can again use Riverside Drive at Johnson Ferry Road as part of their commute.

Riverside Drive reopened Thursday following a three-month project to minimize a sharp curve on Riverside, install new guardrail and create a safe area where underground utilities can be located. The City Council awarded the bid for the work to Precision 2000 in April for $819,000.

Even though the road is open, crews will stay on the scene to finalize work including erosion control and shoulder improvement. Single lane closures will take place over the next week between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and the city said motorists should be extra careful.
