The city of Riverdale offers a Citizen Public Safety Academy to foster better communication between citizens and the public safety departments through education and citizen feedback. Classes will take place 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays starging Sept. 8 through Nov. 17 at the Riverdale Government Annex, 6690 Church St.

People 18 years or older living or working in Riverdale can apply for the academy. A background check will be performed. Applications must be received by end of business Sept. 1 and can be downloaded from the website and emailed, faxed or delivered in person to Lt. Nicole Rabel at the Riverdale Police Department, 6690 Church St.
